Crocidolite is considered the most toxic form of asbestos due to its physical and chemical properties. It is often referred to as blue asbestos and possesses very fine fibers that can be inhaled more easily, leading to a higher risk of serious health issues, including asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. The fibers of crocidolite are also more brittle than those of other types of asbestos, making them more likely to become airborne and be inhaled.

This heightened toxicity is exacerbated by the fact that crocidolite fibers remain in the lungs for a longer duration compared to those of chrysotile, which is the most commonly used and least hazardous form of asbestos, often referred to as white asbestos.
